Funding Tuition for Students

Often times students can’t afford a Catholic university due to a high tuition cost. We didn’t want this to be the case for students who wanted to attend the Catholic University of America.

The Catholic University of America (CUA) is a national research university with 5,700 undergraduate and graduate students in more than 250 academic programs on a residential campus located in the heart of Washington, D.C. The university was founded in 1887 by the Catholic bishops of the United States, with a charter from then Pope Leo XIII, to be the national university of the Catholic Church in America.

PROBLEM

The Catholic University of America had a large number of student applicants that were very desirable and had signaled their strong interest in the University but were unable to meet the cost of tuition.

SOLUTION

For a gift of $400,000, Rob and Berni were able to sponsor 20 “Impact Scholarships” per year over four years and was able to call on its network of like-minded philanthropists to participate. Through the efforts of RBNF and many other generous Trustee donors on the Catholic University Board, $4 million in total was raised, enough to fund 200 scholarships.
